Cleaning the
Leveluk SD501DX Ionizer — E-Cleaning

Complete step-by-step cleaning guide for the SD501DX ionizer. Learn when and how to perform e-cleaning, how to clean the electrodes and when to replace the filter.

⏱ Time: ~3 hours 🧹 2 sachets of powder 💧 370 ml water 🔄 Every 1–2 weeks

Cleaning guides for other devices:

Automatic Daily Cleaning

The SD501DX features a built-in automatic electrode cleaning system that activates after each use of the device.

Auto-Cleaning After Use

Automatic

The ionizer automatically reverses electrode polarity after each operating cycle, preventing limescale build-up. No user intervention required.

Deep E-Cleaning

Every 1–2 weeks

With harder water or after extended use, more frequent weekly cleaning with E-Cleaner powder is necessary to remove accumulated scale.

Important: Automatic cleaning does not replace E-Cleaning. With hard water (above 250 mg/l CaCO₃), scale deposits build up despite daily auto-cleaning and require chemical removal.

Filter Replacement — SD501DX

The SD501DX is equipped with a high-performance filter. Regular replacement ensures clean water and protects the electrodes from contaminants in the mains water supply.

Filter Lifespan

6,000 litres

At a typical usage of approx. 10 l/day, this is around 1.5 years of use. The ionizer signals when a replacement is needed on the display.

Frequently Asked Questions — SD501DX Cleaning

How do I activate E-Cleaning mode on the SD501DX?
With the power off, press and hold the ◆ (Strong Acidic) button for 3 or more seconds. The device will beep and enter E-Cleaning mode. The display will show the relevant information.
Why can I not interrupt E-Cleaning after step 4?
Once the main cleaning cycle has started, the E-Cleaner solution begins to circulate through the electrodes. Interrupting the process may leave chemical residues in the electrodes, which requires prolonged rinsing or additional servicing. The entire cycle must complete automatically.
How much E-Cleaner powder does the SD501DX use?
The SD501DX requires 2 sachets of E-Cleaner powder dissolved in 370 ml of water. This is the standard amount — do not reduce it, as a solution that is too concentrated or too weak reduces cleaning effectiveness.
How often should I clean the SD501DX with typical tap water?
Tap water hardness varies — typically 200–350 mg/l CaCO₃. At this hardness, E-Cleaning every 1–2 weeks is recommended. In areas with very hard water, clean every week. With soft water, every 2 weeks is sufficient.
Where can I buy E-Cleaner powder for the SD501DX?
E-Cleaner powder is available exclusively through authorised Enagic distributors. Call 607 613 633 — I can send it by courier or you can collect in person.
Do the SD501DX and K8 use the same cleaning powder?
Yes — both devices use the same E-Cleaner powder. The only difference is the amount of water used for dissolving: K8 — 350 ml, SD501DX — 370 ml. If you own both devices, you can use the same powder stock for both.
